Directorate of Mines and Geology

The Directorate of Mines and Geology was established as a separate Department in January 2003, after bifurcation from the Directorate of Industries and Mines, mainly engaged in Mineral Administration, Field investigation, Mineral receipt, Mineral Development and Regulation, Mineral Investigation in the state of Goa. This involves mainly the enforcement of the provisions of MMDR Act 1957, MCR 1960 and GDDMMC Rules 1980 including collection of revenue on the minerals. The overall structure of the Directorate of Mines & Geology can be divided into 4 broad categories :-

  • Major Minerals
  • Minor Minerals
  • Administration
  • Environment

The Director of Mines and Geology is the Head of the Department.
